At a second of unparalleled disaster, the horrific deaths of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and in my hometown of Indianapolis, Dreasjon Reed, have delivered to our screens the lived actuality of Black individuals in our nation and throughout the globe. The worry, unhappiness, and rage you might be experiencing are comprehensible and unfathomable. Our eyes have been opened to the fact of the Black lived expertise of worry and invisibleness.
On daily basis at Incapacity Options, we all know that is our second to alter lives. To be seen and heard, as an entire being not only a disabled one, is among the strongest experiences of our humanity.
But, in all of the progress our neighborhood has made, our civil rights journey has by no means been ours alone. Our progress was born of the labor, of affection, and the ache and struggling of Black Individuals in the course of the civil rights motion and past.
Mr. Floyd’s 6-year outdated daughter, Gianna advised all of us her, “Daddy modified the world.” She is true. It is a defining second in historical past. Collectively, we are able to work towards a union the place Black lives haven’t any much less worth than White lives.
At this time, we’re making a name for motion, as a workforce, to our shoppers, your entire incapacity neighborhood and our allies to face up, to rise to THIS event. Our silence is now not a viable choice.
